As investors are confronted with the dual challenges of a low-yield environment and mounting pressure to shift to increasingly sustainable practices, the emergence of private debt as one of the fastest growing segments of fixed income markets and the evolution of sustainability standards have become increasingly relevant themes for fixed income professionals.
We therefore invite you to join fellow members of the CFA UK Fixed Income SIG for the group’s inaugural event - The future of Fixed Income - Private Debt & Sustainability - an event bringing together industry leaders to discuss current trends and developments in private debt markets and sustainable investment practices, explore the areas where the two increasingly intersect, and share their outlooks for the future of fixed income markets.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Dr Ulf Erlandsson, founder and CEO, Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute (AFII)
Dr Ulf Erlandsson is founder and CEO of the Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute (AFII), a non-profit research institute and advocacy organisation focused on fixed income markets and the climate transition. Launched in 2020, AFII has had a number of successes through its market-insider style of research showing how environmental exposures drive investment risks and returns. The institute has also gained attention for its challenges of fossil funding mechanics in the markets, for example through bond syndication processes.
Prior to founding AFII, Erlandsson headed the Global Credit and SSA portfolios as well as a total return mandate at the Fourth Swedish State Pension Fund (AP4). He was responsible for driving AP4 to become a top global franchise for green bonds in the early days of the market but also pioneering shorting of climate risk through derivatives. This further led to the development of a fixed income based long-short hedge fund strategy for climate impact called Diem.
Erlandsson started his career as a quant strategist at Barclays Capital after having earned his Ph.D. in econometrics from Lund University. He has authored several books on credit trading including “Systematic CDS index trading” and “Empirical analysis of the credit cycle” as well as seminal papers on climate focused credit such as “Credit alpha and CO2 reduction: A portfolio manager approach”, “Green bonds risk premiums: A twin-bond approach” and “Carbon negative leveraged investment strategies”.
