The goal of this working group is to highlight exciting innovation and tech happening outside of financial services as a way of helping our members understand its wider impact on society and on investment opportunities and risks. The challenge is to select topics, speakers and content which are relevant and of interest to our membership, either by being able to invest in these areas or to shape their views of the future including identification of speakers to present on the leading innovations and stages of technology. 

The group should aim to deliver a programme of activity that engages with as many CFA UK members as possible.

Purpose and activities

 The group is tasked with:

  • Identifying opportunities for creating content that highlights innovation and technology in the non-financial sector, e.g. electric vehicles, health tech, 5G and its impacts, cold fusion and other real world applications outside of the finance sector 
  • Curating relevant and topical content which is relevant to investment professionals at all levels  
  • Creating or commissioning original content
  • Creating and collaborating in delivering in person events for CFA UK 
  • Ensuring content is in line with CFA UK’s quality standards 
  • Contacting subject matter experts requesting original submissions 
  • Identifying potential podcast guests 
  • Proposing webinar topics and speakers around leading non-financial innovations in line with event delivery schedule 
  • You will get plenty of support from the staffed office and their expertise on operations, event delivery and manging virtual environments so that you can focus on ideas and delivering engaging connect for our members.

Who are we looking for?

  • Volunteers who have strong interest and understanding of the current rise of non-financial innovation and technology
  • Volunteers who would like to create and/or curate relevant content
  • Availability for minimum six meetings throughout the membership year plus conference calls and work to move ideas forward between meetings 
  • Ability to work with a group to shape ideas
  • Understanding of what would interest the membership.

Compliance Notes:

  • Group members should seek prior compliance clearance from their employers
  • Members will participate in a personal capacity and not as representatives of their employer
