Impact investments are made with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. The Impact Investing Special Interest Group (IISIG) was established in 2016 to provide opportunities for CFA UK members with an interest in impact investment to learn more about the field and connect with each other. It aims to do this by 1) enabling content sharing of news, developments and trends; 2) creating opportunities to learn about approaches in impact investment and careers; 3) convene its members so they can build and maintain their network.

IISIG is now looking for up to two volunteers to join its leadership team (LT).

 Purpose and activities:

  • Support the growth and engagement of the SIG online community in CFA UK Connect
  • Maintain and promote IISIG’s Connect page including posting regular content to encourage engagement and spark discussion
  • Help find appropriate speakers/panels for webinars and/or live events in line with events delivery schedule.
  • CFA UK Events Team will provide a clear event delivery schedule for your group for H1 and H2
  • Hosting of regular virtual and live networking events for SIG members
  • Attend volunteer events hosted by CFA UK and represent IISIG and its leadership group
  • Contribute in other ways to the creation of a community around impact investing

  Who are we looking for?

  • Knowledge, experience and passion for the topic of impact investing
  • The drive and time available to create a community of CFA UK members interested in impact investing
  • A willingness to access existing networks and actively seek out groups or individuals whose knowledge or expertise compliments the SIG’s area of activity
  • Able to be responsive and creative in finding new ways of engaging the SIG membership
  • Good networkers, competent administrators and individuals who work well in a team of diverse individuals
  • Able to jointly express a vision for the SIG and develop an annual operating plan and a long-term strategic plan for the SIG with the others on the LT

What will you gain from volunteering in this role?

  • Build your profile within the CFA UK network of volunteers, the wider membership and the industry
  • Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Recognition for your contribution in shaping and delivering services to the membership
  • Opportunity to meet and network with other like-minded investment professionals
  • Volunteering brings a “shared experience” amongst peers that has long-lasting benefits for your career
