CFA UK’s Networks Steering Committee (NSC) is responsible for supporting, monitoring and developing some of the society’s networks. They include 1) Special Interest Groups (SIGs) 2) Next Generation Networks (NGNs), which focus on members in the first 10 years of their investment careers 3) Mentoring Working Group 4) Pub Meets and Social Activities Working Group 5) Inclusion & Diversity Network.

The NSC is seeing continued activity in its networks, with two new SIGs being formed recently. In addition, the NGNs are undergoing a transformation process. We are looking for members who will become ‘point people’ on the committee for some of the SIGs and NGNs, helping to oversee their growth and development. Note that much of the work of this committee takes place in between meetings, as members interact with the leadership teams of the networks to which they have been assigned.


Purpose and activities:

  • Steer the overall strategy for the networks and create an annual plan for their activities
  • Provide guidance, support and advice to the networks as they deliver events and content
  • Review previous and existing activity of the networks and make suggestions around what should stop, what should continue and what should change
  • Check in periodically with the leads of the networks to ensure the groups are functioning well and operating within their guidelines and/or terms of reference
  • Track the activities of the networks and provide reporting
  • Help to troubleshoot any issues that may arise within the networks
  • Share best practices among committee members and with the networks
  • Enable the formation of new networks and make decisions about whether any proposed new networks should be approved

 

Who are we looking for?

  • CFA UK members who are willing to engage with, oversee, support and advise others
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and negotiation skills and who understands the value of networking
  • Diversity of perspective to represent the membership, for instance in terms of seniority in industry, background, gender etc.
  • Availability for around four meetings throughout the membership year, either via video conferencing, conference calls or (eventually, once again) face to face
  • Availability to contact the relevant networks and track their progress between meetings

 

How CFA UK will help:

  • A member of the CFA UK staffed office, the Head of Member Delivery, sits on the steering committee. CFA UK can provide data around member engagement and events with respect to existing CFA activity; information about available funding and resources; and helpful systems and processes.
