The FCA has published Consultation Paper CP21/24 seeking input on proposals designed to promote diversity and inclusion within all premium and standard listed companies:

CFA UK wishes to respond to this consultation and address its core questions such as:

  • Should premium and standard listed companies be required to meet a target of having 40% female gender representation on their boards or explain why they have not met this target?
  • Should these same companies be required to meet a target of having 10% non-white ethnic representation on their boards or explain why they have not met this target?
  • Should these targets extend to key board sub-committees for remuneration, nominations and audit and to the next layer of executive management i.e. the direct reports of boards?
  • Should these companies also be obliged to publish similar data with regard to the representation on their board and board sub-committees of members of other social groups by sexual orientation, disability and/or socio-economic background?

The purpose and activity of this working group is to:

Who are CFA UK looking for?

  • A diverse group both by gender and ethnicity
  • Some members involved day-to-day in ESG analysis
  • Members with the ability and willingness to consider the topic from multiple viewpoints
  • Members with strong writing and communication skills
  • Availability for 2-4 hrs/week between end of August and 20 October 2021

  • An opportunity to present your findings to CFA UK’s Professionalism Steering Committee

  • Group members should seek prior compliance clearance from their employers
  • Members will participate in a personal capacity and not as representatives of their employer
