The 430 industry professionals that make up the volunteer community within CFA UK are vital to all aspects of the Society’s work, benefiting our membership, the investment profession and society generally. 

The CFA UK Volunteer Steering Committee (VSC) is tasked by the CFA UK Board to lead and govern volunteering within the Society in a way that serves both the needs of members and progresses the aims of the Society as a whole. 

To do this the VSC is recruiting new members to help increase understanding of members needs, the quality of the volunteering experience, and members’ interest in joining the volunteer community.


 Purpose and Activities

As a Member your role would be to:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to CFA UK’s volunteering work
  • Continuously review the impact of volunteering at CFA UK, including the development and analysis of the annual volunteer survey and bringing volunteer feedback directly to the VSC
  • Work with the Staffed Office to deliver an excellent volunteer experience.
  • Make connections, in person and virtually, with the wider volunteer community to ensure volunteering governance is embedded across the whole volunteer community.
  • Promote volunteering within the volunteer community and more generally.
  • Attend at least six Committee meetings in a year.

People who have:

  • experience of volunteering at CFA UK or in other professional bodies
  • experience of governance environments
  • an understanding of and focus on providing a good volunteer experience
  • an interest in increasing membership engagement through volunteering
  • an interest in building and participating in the volunteer community
  • a talent for thinking creatively to develop solutions
