The I&D Conference Working Group is a volunteer group of investment professionals to produce an Inclusion & Diversity Conference in March 2022. This group will report to the CFA UK I&D Committee.

 

We believe that we have an opportunity to build a truly diverse investment profession and that diversity and inclusion is a business imperative. We want to engage the industry in our upcoming I&D Conference to provide practical and unique perspectives of how I&D can:

  • Make our industry better and reflect wider society as well as our investors
  • Work together effectively to create better outcomes
  • Attract a pipeline of diverse talent to work in the industry

 

We want to showcase our I&D agenda in this conference packed with fresh content and ideas led by innovative and inspirational speakers that will have global impact - as well as develop any supporting content generation / curation for pre- and post-event material. Working in partnership with other CFA Societies and firms, this working group will devise an eye-catching and impactful programme addressing key I&D industry challenges, delivering actionable advice and guidance with thought-provoking and engaging formats.

 

You will be working towards bringing an online conference to life that will integrate live panels, keynote speakers, pre-recorded videos, networking opportunities and online collaboration.

 

Purpose and activities:

  • To work with the other members of the working group and the I&D committee to programme a 2-3 (half days) global-facing online I&D Conference (consisting of a mixture of keynote presentations, panel sessions and case studies)
  • Ensure the theme of the conference is aligned to CFA UK’s I&D objectives as well as the overall business strategy, objectives and KPIs
  • Provide specialist guidance and expertise in the subject of I&D in the industry
  • Connect with and confirm high-profile, relevant speakers and panellists to be involved in the conference plus be able to research and create background briefings for programme sessions
  • Understand the importance of Inclusion & Diversity for sustainable investment progression and the role that I&D plays in ESG
  • Be confident in using your LinkedIn network and connections to widen promotion of the conference and drive registrations

 

Who are we looking for?

  • We welcome applications from all levels, backgrounds and sections of the CFA UK community - ideally you should have one or more of the following:
    • Experience / willingness to learn of Inclusion & Diversity issues within the investment profession
    • Experience / willingness to learn about conference programming and presenting
    • Wide range of industry connections
    • Interest, authority and expertise of Inclusion & Diversity topics
  • Passionate about I&D issues that affect the industry and desire to raise the profile among the CFA community and wider financial services
  • Be willing to actively contribute and bring ideas, enthusiasm and drive
  • Be responsive and creative to help CFA UK find new ways to promote Inclusion & Diversity through the online conference model and any related promotional content
  • Act as an I&D ambassador for the conference both externally to the industry and within your firm
  • Good at networking and engaging with others
  • Individuals who can commit approximately 5-8 hours per month for 10 months (initially via fortnightly meetings)

How CFA UK will help

  •  Attend your first meeting and deliver a short 30 minutes workshop to help you understand better how to achieve the deliverables you have been tasked with
  • Provide advice and guidance around best practice for online events and answer any questions
  • Provide all event operations and logistics including:
    • Onboard, manage and coordinate speakers once they have been confirmed by the working group
    • Provide a suitable online platform and technical expertise in running that platform including running it for the conference itself
  • Promote the event via our communication channels, including the member newsletter, social media and our website.
  • Provide technical expertise around creation of connected content including video editing and proof reading
