The purpose of the Sustainability Committee is to recommend to the Board on the development and articulation of CFA UK’s position on sustainability in a way that serves the members, the investment profession, and society. The committee is working to identify the practical steps CFA UK should take in relation to that positioning and the resource required to undertake the activities. The committee’s key upcoming deliverables are:

  1. Provide an appropriate framework and content for regular sustainability reporting
  2. Create a 3-5 year action plan for CFA UK’s sustainability road map
  3. Map CFA UK sustainability activity to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  4. Communicate externally with members and wider society
  5. Communicate internally with CFA UK staff

The current make-up of the Committee is a mixture of current and former members of the CFA UK Board. The Committee is now seeking additional members who have the time, determination and skill to drive forwards the deliverables. The committee are open to applications from those new to volunteering and to CFA UK membership where the applicants are passionate and committed. Taking part in this committee will include regular interaction with senior level CFA UK volunteers who are also senior sustainable investment professionals. 

Your role will be to:

  •  Actively contribute to moving forwards on one or more of the above deliverables through activities such as: 
    • Working in partnership with other committee members to utilise their expertise
    • Conducting research (online research and/or making calls/sending emails etc.)
    • Report writing (updates, research summaries, proposals etc.)
    • Joining a project group to deliver specific pieces of work for the committee within a specific timeframe
    • Working with the staffed office
    • Working with third party consultancies
  • Bring forward ideas/suggestions for fulfilment of the deliverables and work beyond that
  • Promote our sustainability content via social media networks and channels
  • Be willing to take minutes as required
  • Commit to attend monthly Committee meetings (usually virtual) and contribute to the discussion and actions.

Compliance Notes:

  • Group members should seek prior compliance clearance from their employers 
  • Members will participate in a personal capacity and not as representatives of their employer.
