The goal of this working group is to create activities and content for investment practitioners (asset managers or owners) that facilitates knowledge sharing and practical approaches to implementation. The group identifies experts who can provide practical guidance on the realities of implementing investment theories at work. The scope includes research analysis, portfolio management through to corporate practice and process. You will be engaging industry experts to share their first-hand experience and working knowledge with our members.
Investment Practises covers a broad base of investment strategy, from practical advice to showcasing varied viewpoints, always considering what is going to be of interest and relevant to a broad base of CFA UK members.
The group should aim to deliver a programme across the 2023/24 membership year and beyond that engages with as much of CFA UK’s membership as possible.
The group is tasked with:
Identifying opportunities for creating content that highlights thought leadership in investment practises
Explore the different perspectives and innovative ways in which firms cover research analysis, portfolio management, asset allocation
Discuss how to transform academic concepts into practical business applications, covering advantages, challenges and pitfalls
Analyse industry trends (not market trends)
Creating and collaborating in delivering in person events for CFA UK
Ensuring content is in line with CFA UK’s quality standard
Contacting subject matter experts requesting original submissions
Identifying potential podcast guest
Proposing webinar topics and speakers around leading non-financial innovations in line with event delivery schedule
Regular liaison with the Head of Professional Learning and Events Team to ensure the best content delivery

Who are we looking for?
Members who are active portfolio managers
Members who would be interested in leading the group in the future
Members who have strong networks across the investment profession
Volunteers who regularly attend events and have interest in leading/hosting at least one event
Volunteers who would like to create and/or curate relevant content
Availability for around three meetings throughout the membership year plus conference calls and work to move ideas forward between meetings
Ability to work with a group to shape ideas.
Understanding of what would interest the membership.
