Description:

Join the CFA UK Private Markets Community as a Community Champion
No. of vacancies 2
Estimated time commitment 40-50 hours per year
Term: Minimum 12 months

The CFA UK Private Markets Community brings together investment professionals working across private markets to exchange knowledge, explore developments shaping the asset class and build meaningful connections across the industry.

We are looking for experienced and engaged professionals to join us as Community Champions and help shape the next stage of the Community's development.

Our Community Champions are active contributors rather than simply members of a committee. You will work alongside other Champions and the CFA UK team to identify important themes, develop relevant activities and content, support events, encourage discussion and help us build an engaged network of private markets professionals.

What you'll do as a Private Markets Community Champion

  • Shape the conversation: Help identify the issues, trends and developments that matter to private markets professionals and contribute ideas for the Community's programme of activities.
  • Develop relevant content: Work with fellow Champions and the CFA UK team on ideas for webinars, events, discussions, podcasts, articles and other content for the Community.
  • Support and host events: Take an active role in Community events, including welcoming attendees, facilitating networking, moderating discussions or roundtables and, where appropriate, contributing as a speaker.
  • Connect the industry: Help us bring together practitioners from different parts of the private markets ecosystem and encourage exchange between investment managers, asset owners, advisers and other relevant market participants.
  • Engage the Community: Contribute regularly to our online Community by starting conversations, sharing useful insights and encouraging members to participate.
  • Build awareness: Help promote relevant Community activities through your professional networks, including LinkedIn, and encourage other suitable professionals to engage with the Community.
  • Evaluate and evolve: Work with CFA UK and fellow Champions to review activities, understand what members value and suggest ways we can continuously strengthen the Community.
Who we're looking for

For this Community, relevant professional experience is essential. Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • CFA UK membership: You must be a current CFA UK member.
  • Minimum three years' relevant professional experience within investment management, asset management, an asset owner organisation or an advisory firm working directly with private markets.
  • Relevant private markets expertise: We particularly welcome professionals working across private equity, private credit, private debt, infrastructure, secondaries, hedge funds and other alternative investment strategies.
  • Relevant organisations: Applicants should currently work for an asset manager/investment manager, asset owner or advisory organisation with meaningful involvement in private markets.
  • Active industry knowledge: You should have a good understanding of current developments, challenges and opportunities within your area of private markets and be willing to contribute that expertise to Community discussions.
  • Collaborative and engaged: You enjoy exchanging ideas, meeting other professionals and contributing constructively to a professional community.
  • Able to commit: You should be able to contribute approximately 40–50 hours per year, including Community meetings and activities outside those meetings, both online and in person. The minimum volunteering term is 12 months.

What's in it for you?

Build your industry network: Develop relationships with professionals across different areas of private markets, including investment managers, asset owners and advisers.

Contribute to industry discussion: Help determine which issues CFA UK's Private Markets Community explores and create opportunities for practitioners to exchange perspectives and experience.

Raise your professional profile: Become an active and visible contributor within CFA UK's member network and the wider investment profession.

Develop leadership and communication skills: Gain experience facilitating discussions, hosting events, developing content and working collaboratively with other experienced professionals.

Make a meaningful contribution: Help CFA UK create a valuable professional community that responds to the changing needs of practitioners working across private markets.

Please note: Community Champions participate in a personal capacity and not as representatives of their employers.
