Happy Friday Everyone!
Continuing from last episode, part 2 of the CFA UK Climate Change Podcast with James Alexander, CEO of UKSIF, is now out. I really enjoyed this second part - it dives deeper into UKSIF's mission-led approach and how the organisation influences policy and regulation across the financial sector.
James also shares some timely thoughts on the current political landscape and the risks of over-relying on the finance industry to solve sustainability challenges - especially with a general election.
Definitely worth a listen if you're interested in how policy, politics, and sustainable finance intersect.

Hello everyone,
I found a couple of interesting things on climate change and thought I'd share. Also, in this discussion you will find transcriptions and links to Climate Change podcast led by our community member and CFA UK Volunteer John Teehan from Redwheel. Give it a listen!
The first thing that I wanted to share is "The Climate Dictionary" from UNDP. A useful resource for those who only start their journey in sustainability and also for those who are advanced. It has definitions for terms from adaptation to climate finance, from carbon removal to blue economy, from greenwashing to tipping point. Attaching it here, you can also download it from our library.
I have 2 kids and am always on the lookout for interesting comics as both of them are into comics. I found these comics that explain climate change ideas and projects - really insightful. May be you will like them too?
Lastly I'd like to share this photo. Nima Sarikhani became a wild photographer of the year.
have an amazing day and i look forward to seeing you at our webinars in June and July and our online meetup in September.

Hello Community!
Hope you are having a great Tuesday. Today I wanted to highlight this episode of the CFA UK Climate Change Podcast focused on fiduciary duty and the rise of active shareholders. I found this episode very interesting on how academic research and the practical outcomes can help investors and other stakeholders assess and understand materiality (both internal and outward), efficacy and comparative advantage. The example with shareholders' proposal with Sainsbury's was particularly interesting. Enjoy. Transcripts are attached
Episode 11 Part 1: Fiduciary duty and the role of lobbying in climate change
In this CFA UK Climate Change Podcast, host John Teahan, Redwheel, interviews Tom Gosling, an Executive Fellow at the London Business School, discussing fiduciary duty and the role of lobbying in climate change. They explore a framework developed by the Investor Forum to guide investors in addressing ESG issues. Tom emphasizes the importance of materiality, efficacy, and comparative advantage when deciding which issues to prioritize. They apply the framework to a shareholder proposal at Sainsbury's, concluding that it did not meet the tests. Tom also highlights the evolving perspectives around ESG issues and the need for evidence-based analysis and balanced viewpoints. The conversation sets the stage for the next part, which will focus on climate change specifically
