    Good morning Community!

I saw this article today in Green Alliance Blog. Iain Gulland, CEO of Zero Waste Scotland writes that UK should increase energy security by building a circular economy for critical raw materials.

Labour Government included turning UK into a global energy superpower into its five key missions. Which is great. Iain thinks thought that the crucial piece is missing from the Government's agenda - the risk of new dependencies on foreign actors for the supply of the critical raw materials. Countries will compete for these materials and the UK should establish framework for the circular economy.

Coalition for Wind Industry Circularity's research shows that remanufacturing just 10 components for wind turbines using well established supply chains could create a UK market worht GBP 9.6 billion. The UK already has an established recycling sector for high value platinum group metals. Many companies now are exploring how to commercialise and scale up circular business models for critical materials.

Another organisation that I met in the past is ORE (Offshore Renewable Energy) Catapult of Innovate UK. ORE Catapult is exploring opportunities between oil and gas, offshore renewable energy and metals/mining to build up those circular economy supply chain eco-systems. Read more here

Lastly, earlier this year our community Champion @Jim Totty hosted a webinar on Critical Mineral Resources. Here's the link for the recording

Will we see Government's incentives to proactively shape this recycle and re-use market? And what could work best?
