Good morning community,
For me this news is alarming and disappointing. Kemi Badenoch, Tory leader says she would replace it with 'cheap energy' strategy, ending decades-long consensus on climate. Here's an article From Guardian
As we see time and time again, it is easy to promise "cheap" energy. But when it comes to actually implementing things, we then realise what the real costs of those promises are.
The UK's green economy is a significant and growing sector, expanding by approximately 10% in 2024 to generate £83.1 billion in gross value added (GVA), driven by high-demand sectors like renewable energy, electric vehicles, and energy efficiency. This growth is outpacing the overall UK economy, creating high-wage jobs and increasing energy security, though policy and investment remain crucial for maximizing its potential and avoiding falling behind in the global net-zero transition.
Here's more from CBI Economics on UK's green economy.
Please share your thoughts. What are the motives / drives for the Conservative to suggest to scrap Climate Change Act?
