I thought I'd look into Nature Tech, as some of you mentioned these as a theme of interest during our onboarding chats. Here's what I found out - this is just "at a glance". I do know we have some members from companies already investing in some Nature Tech.
NATURE TECH
As more companies and investors realise the importance of putting biodiversity and nature at the centre of their climate strategies, nature tec will certainly have a role to play.
What is Nature Tech: Nature tech describes technologies that can accelerate the implementation of NBS (nature-based solutions). Examples:
§ Deploy nbs: drone technology for reforestation
§ Monitor, report & verify (mrv) nbs: satellite monitoring
§ Transparency around nbs: blockchain for carbon transactions
§ Connect projects and people: NBS such as mobile apps and platforms to connect local communities to higher-paying markets
Size of the Market:
According to Nature4Climate the current nature tech market is approximately USD 2 billion in 2022. According to PWC this is a growth of 52% per year since 2018.
That will grow to USD 6 billion in less than 10 years (in comparison the size of the climate tech market is USD 20.34 billion and fusion energy is USD 6 billion USD)
