    Hi everyone.
Social lens for my post this morning.

I saw an interesting report that looks at European VC eco-system through the diversity lens. This is the result of collaboration between Invest Europe and European Investment Fund. Venture capital is the driving force behind groundbreaking innovations, such as clean technology solutions for a more sustainable future. However, it's often approached without considering regional perspectives or diversity.

In 2022, the VC industry reached a high point in terms of volumes, but it's important to note that only one in ten founders and CEOs of start-ups were women. This falls significantly short of the 30% target set by the "diversity WG" of Invest Europe. Nonetheless, it's encouraging to see this number on the rise.

Looking at it from a regional perspective, Madrid and Barcelona have firmly established themselves as top 10 VC hubs, with London and Paris leading the list. However, the Iberian Peninsula leads in terms of female participation, boasting an impressive 14% female representation across both startups and VC, making it the highest on the entire continent.

You can download this report from our library.

Would be interesting to hear from members working in venture capital if they see the improving trend as well in their areas?

On an absolute basis, I definitely come across more female founders in the Nordic region than women in VC. However, if you take the base into account, the % of women in VC is probably higher than the % of women founders. Wild guess, 10-15% and 3-10%.
