Mentoring Programme - Working Group member

Number of new member volunteers

2

Timeframe

Min 18 months

Commitment

15-20 hours

Matching window (must be available)

Mon 26 Oct - Fri 13 Nov

CFA UK’s mentoring programme has supported the professional growth of our members for the past six years. We are now seeking two enthusiastic member volunteers to join the working group for the 2026/27 cohort, where our objective is to match 70 mentee and mentor pairs.

Applications for the 2026/27 programme open in October 2026, and successful volunteers will need to be available for the matching process. This will be a concentrated period of 3 weeks, likely Mon 26 Oct - Fri 13 Nov.

The working group leads on programme administration and supports CFA UK’s staffed office with strategic oversight. This is a great opportunity to directly influence the professional development of CFA UK members while building your own network.

Main activities

  • Administer the programme: Review applications, match participants and monitor progress throughout the programme.
  • Assist in the production of mentoring materials: Contribute to newsletter content, toolkits, exercises and PowerPoint presentations that support mentees and mentors throughout the programme.
  • Support events: Facilitate networking events for current cohorts and programme alumni.
  • Evaluate and review: Report on successes and areas for improvement and shape the programme year on year

Who are CFA UK looking for?

  • Enthusiastic members committed to enhancing the programme.
  • Availability to assess mentee matching in October 2026, contribute to programme materials and support networking events.
  • Ability to collaborate with a group to generate innovative ideas.
  • Confidence drafting or reviewing written content and presentations (support is provided by the staffed office).
  • Experience of mentoring programmes (preferred but not essential) or a strong understanding of career development challenges within our industry.

What will you get out of it?

  • Enhance your profile within the CFA UK volunteer community, the wider membership and the industry.
  • Develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Gain recognition for your role in delivering and promoting mentoring services.
  • Network with other investment professionals who share similar interests.
  • Experience the lasting benefits of volunteering and shared experiences that influence your career.

Time commitment

The role requires approximately 15-20 hours across a minimum of 18 months. This includes working group meetings, a concentrated period of matching activity, contribution to programme materials, and attendance at networking events.

How to apply

To apply, please submit your application via the CFA UK volunteering with a short summary of your interest and relevant experience. If you would like an informal conversation about the role first, please contact volunteer@cfauk.org.
