The Research Analysis Special Interest Group (RASIG) is a community of professionals working in, or interested in, research analysis. The leadership team for this group are tasked with bringing the latest and most relevant topics to the table by posting content virtually, starting discussions and holding events. Topics can cover areas such as technological change, industry regulation, research pricing & payment models, structural change and related issues. The leadership group also look at how they can provide support with the practical aspects of the job of a research analyst. Overall, the aim is to continue to build and support a vibrant professional community.

 

We are looking for four or five volunteers to lead the Research Analysis Special Interest Group.

 

Purpose and activities:

  • Identify the latest relevant topics that would be of the most interest to the members of the SIG
  • Identify articles, videos and podcasts on the relevant topics and post them to the group’s forum web page
  • Identify which topics are suitable for virtual and in-person events and then source expert speakers to cover these topics
  • Options to author/create original content on the subject matter such as articles, videos and podcasts – CFA UK will assist with this
  • Assist with the sourcing of venues for in-person events (COVID-regulation permitted)
  • Act as a community representative and host; welcoming people at virtual and in-person events, starting discussions; welcoming new members
  • Contribute in other ways to the creation of a community around the SIG
  • Attend weekly / bi-weekly RASIG calls discussing markets and trends that are relevant to our community and share with the wider RASIG audience

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Passion for research analysis and a strong interest in exploring the issues that affect the sector
  • Interest in helping research analysts acquire the skills they need to master their roles
  • People with experience in various asset classes – equities, fixed income, commodities, etc.
  • The drive to create a community of likeminded individuals
  • Willing to access existing networks and create bridges to groups or individuals whose knowledge or expertise complements the SIG’s area of activity
  • Willing to be responsive and creative in finding new ways of engaging the SIG membership
  • Good at networking, organising, planning and communicating
  • Able to work with others to jointly express a vision for the SIG and develop an annual operating plan and a long-term plan

 

 

How CFA UK will help:

  • CFA UK will provide guidance, training, and best practice
  • CFA UK will host one in-person event each year for the SIG, including managing operations, logistics and marketing (booking the venue, etc.). The Leadership Group will be responsible for sourcing the venues for and hosting the other events during the year.
  • CFA UK will provide virtual platforms for virtual events and provide technical support
  • CFA UK can market RASIG events to the wider membership as appropriate
  • CFA UK can work with SIG leaders to look at content creation as appropriate
