Overview

CFA UK is seeking technically skilled volunteers to support an AI-focused student innovation programme as Technical Volunteers (Code Reviewers). This role is designed for individuals with hands-on experience in Python and AI/ML applications who are interested in how emerging technologies are being applied within finance and investment contexts.

Scope of the Role

Technical Volunteers provide specialist input during the solution development phase of the programme, focusing on code quality, functionality, and reproducibility. The role is advisory and evaluative, supporting students by offering constructive technical feedback rather than developing solutions directly.

Key areas of involvement include:

  • Technical Review: Assessing submitted code to ensure it runs as intended and meets basic standards of quality and clarity.
  • Reproducibility and Best Practice: Reviewing project structure, documentation, and use of libraries to support reproducibility and maintainability.
  • Feedback and Guidance: Providing clear, practical feedback to help teams improve their implementation and technical approach.
  • Finance-Focused Application: Considering how effectively the technical solution supports the intended finance or investment use case.

What Will You Do?

  • Review and validate working code submissions during Stage 2
  • Assess code quality, functionality, and reproducibility
  • Provide technical feedback on implementation and best practices

Who Is CFA UK Looking For?

  • Python proficiency and ability to review Jupyter notebooks or GitHub repositories
