We’re launching a new Working Group to represent and support members working across the private markets ecosystem—including private equity, private debt, fund investors (LPs), real estate, and infrastructure. We also welcome professionals from related areas such as M&A advisory, debt advisory, valuation, due diligence, secondaries, restructuring, and placement advisory.
Can you bring your expertise to the table?
Why Now?
Private capital markets are growing rapidly—reaching USD 15 trillion in 2023 and projected to nearly double to USD 29 trillion by 2033. This growth is transforming the investment landscape and creating new opportunities for professionals across the sector.
We’ve heard from our members: they want to connect, learn, and lead in this space. And we know that private markets demand more collaboration than public markets—especially given the challenges around transparency and information flow.
This Working Group will be a space to generate ideas, share experiences, and shape a programme that delivers real value to CFA UK members.
The Scope Includes:
• What practical knowledge do investment professionals need day-to-day in private markets?
• What academic or industry research is shaping the future of private capital?
• What are examples of successful deals—and where is value being created?
• What’s missing in the regulatory or operational landscape—and how can we address it?
• How can we better support professionals navigating secondaries, valuations, and restructuring?
• Examples of themes include but not limited to private credit (growth, risk and opportunity), tech-enabled private markets, LP-GP dynamics (alignment, liquidity and governance), navigating the valuation gap etc.
You’ll also help engage industry experts and thought leaders to share their insights with our community.
What You’ll Do:
• Identify opportunities to showcase thought leadership in private markets
• Collaborate with CFA UK's staffed office to plan events and content
• Help deliver high-quality virtual and in-person events
• Suggest podcast/webinar guests and themes
• Liaise regularly with the Head of Engagement, Community Manager, and Events Team
What You’ll Gain:
• Raise your profile within CFA UK and the wider investment community
• Shape industry conversations and future
• Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
• Be recognised for shaping content that supports your peers
• Build lasting connections with others in the field
• Enjoy the shared experience and career benefits of volunteering
Who are we looking for?
• CFA UK members working in or close to private markets
• Professionals with strong networks and a passion for collaboration
• Volunteers interested in leading or hosting at least one event
• Content creators and curators with an eye for what’s relevant and what would interest the membership
• Team players who can work with others and commit to 3 meetings per year and help move the ideas forward
