Real Estate SIG - Leadership Team members

The Real Estate Special Interest Group (RESIG) is an open access platform for the CFA UK Society and its ultimate goal is to articulate and strengthen the knowledge about the real estate asset class and how it plays an important role in a proper asset allocation strategy. Our community building is based on  three pillars: 1-) Education – providing a forum where members, real estate managers and investors can interact and share information; 2-) Events about the latest news, trends and developments affecting the real estate industry and 3-) Industry networking. RESIG is now looking for one to two new volunteers to join its leadership group (LG).

Purpose and activities:

• Support the growth and engagement of the SIG online community
• Assess the topics and content that would be of the most interest to the members of the SIG
• Help curate and share content to spark discussion and engagement within the online community
• Help find appropriate speakers for webinars and/or live events
• Support the hosting of regular virtual networking events for SIG members
• Contribute in other ways to the creation of a community around the SIG
• Bridge between alternative real estate class and traditional asset classes (stocks, bonds)

Who are we looking for?

• Passion for real estate and strong interest in exploring the issues that affect the sector (e.g. impact of COVID-19 on collateral values, opportunities in NPL, capital raising, land acquisition, multi-family, retail and hospitality, real estate impact investing, etc.)
• Ability to identify critical & relevant data sources;
• People with experience in real estate – REITs, Debt/Equity raising, public/private real estate, Institutional Investment, etc.
• The drive to create a community of similarly-minded individuals
• Willing to access existing networks and create bridges to groups or individuals whose knowledge or expertise complements the SIG’s area of activity
• Willing to be responsive and creative in finding new ways of engaging the SIG membership online
• LG members are likely to be good networkers and competent online administrators
• LG members will need to be able to jointly express a vision for the SIG and develop an annual operating plan and a long-term plan for the SIG with the others on the LG team
