CFA Institute are consulting publicly on proposals to update their Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct (“Code and Standards”).  The consultation seeks views on seven firm possible amendments to the Code and Standards, specifically:

  1. Adding a general transparency standard
  2. Revising the conflict-of-Interest standard to address avoiding conflicts of Interest
  3. Adding a standard requiring disclosures relating to nature of services and fees, costs, or compensation
  4. Supplementing the supervisory standard to require senior leaders to promote ethical culture
  5. Establishing an exception to the confidentiality standard relating to impaired clients
  6. Establishing a new standard specifically requiring competency
  7. Consolidating and combining certain standards of a similar nature.

 

Purpose and activities:

As a member of this working group, your role will be to:

  • Respond to the CFA Institute’s consultation paper addressing the above seven specific above updates to the Code and Standards and raise any additional concerns
  • Work together to create a written response
  • Present your findings to CFA UK’s Professionalism Steering Committee and Ethics Steering Committee

 

Who are CFA UK looking for?

  • Applicants must be CFA Charterholders and members of CFA Society UK
  • CFA Charterholder members working in a range of roles across the UK investment sector
  • CFA Charterholder members with a passionate interest in business ethics and their application to everyday working life in the investment sector
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Availability for at least 2hrs/week until 8th July 2022
