    Good morning community!

    GFANZ (Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero) issued a new consultation paper on transition financing strategies. It defines 4 key strategies: 

    1. Climate solutions: companies and activities that scale climate solutions 

    1. Aligned: organisations that are already aligned with 1.5 C 

    1. Aligning: organisations that are committed to transitioning to be aligned with 1.5C 

    1. Managed phaseout: accelerated managed phaseout of high-emitting physical assets. 

    GFANZ also introduced EER – Expected Emission Reduction – this is applicable across all four transition financing strategies and has a distinct measurement approach. EER could be quantified to express "Emissions return" of a financial activity.

    8am has happened and would be interest to hear any community feedback especially from people attempting in house assessment of alignment.


    GFANZ looking for consultation so do input your pain points and experience  (case studies and challenges implementing assessments.


    Webinar and consultation looks at a framework to provide and assess transition finance so really important as transition will be a huge opportunity but will involve engaging intelligently with high emitting sectors to try to accelerate their decarbonisation via investment.

    Questions I have are about:

    For SME lending can this be made manageable and a helpful not burdensome engagement with investees?

    How do you construct your benchmark of BAU to assess de-carbonisation gain?


    Framework attempts to look at LCA including disposal pathway of products and so encourages a wider stakeholder involvement and potential encouragement of value chain element.

    Also emphasis on having milestone targets and a plan that is credible and ambitious.
