You might think Doughnut isn't an obvious brand to use for a framework for sustainable economics....  more likely the image of the iconic ultraprocessed food and maybe ? the carbon footprint impact of guilty indulgence.  The term however links to economics via the graphic Kate Raworth uses to define a safe sustainable space that human economic activity should occupy for a sustainable economic system.  Outside the doughnut ring our activity breaks key planetary boundries (just one of which is GHG concentrations). Inside the hole we break societal boundries that risk eroding civil stability i.e. loss of human rights and civil institutions.

The link below is a recent podcast with her being challenged over the political challenge of changing the prevalent primacy of GDP and financial growth in assessing economic success.

Her book is a great introduction to thinking about the value of Natural, Social and Human Capital in having a sustainable future, the podcast highlights the challenge of changing an entrenched mindset.
