Good morning Community!
Today i thought I'd look at what e-fuels are.
Transportation is responsible for around 20% of global CO2 emissions. Electrofuels (e-Fuels) are being seen as a way of helping to decarbonize aviation and shipping. This new type of fuel is carbon neutral and can be used in existing engines. Article The e-fuels industry is emerging as a promising sector within the broader landscape of renewable energy, driven by the urgent need to decarbonize transportation and other energy-intensive sectors.
E-fuels, or synthetic fuels, are produced using renewable electricity, water, and carbon dioxide, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels. This innovative approach not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also leverages existing infrastructure for storage and distribution, making it an attractive investment opportunity.
I did a bit of information compiling and am sharing a one page document on fundamental things on e-Fuels. Download the document here which contains more information including who currently invests and manufactures these type of fuels.
I wonder if the cost of producing these fuels have gone down? Back in 2022 it was quoted that these fuels could cost 7 times more than fossil fuels. Separate research is needed perhaps. Do we have members with experience in this space? It would be interesting to hear from you.
