Standardised State of Nature Metrics

  • 1.  Standardised State of Nature Metrics

Ahead of next weeks Biodiversity webinar I wanted to share details of an initiative I've been involved with at The Biodiversity Consultancy and the Nature Positive Initiative.
Currently there is no standardised set of metrics to measure the state of mature.  This inhibits comparability, the ability to track progress and the result of risk mitigating actions.
The Nature Positive Initiative has lead a collaborative effort to align biodiversity globally to provide an overall picture of progress and the impact of restorative actions.
A consultation paper was launched this week inviting businesses, financial institutions, policy makers and regulators to input on the proposed state of nature metrics.
The NPI are seeking feedback on the draft approach and framework to foster collective commitment to the metrics.
Consultation is now open!  To learn more or participate, visit:

    Measuring Nature Positive
Nature Positive by 2030 is a global societal goal to halt and reverse nature loss. We need to consensus on credible, practical state of nature metrics to measure whether efforts to achieve this goal are succeeding.
