    Today marks an end of an era as UK becomes the first G7 nation to turn off its last power plant, after pioneering the world's first coal-fired power station at Holborn Viaduct 142-years ago.

    The closure of the UK's last coal-fired power station is important milestone in UK's efforts to reduce carbon emissions as the country moves towards renewable energy.
