CFA UK’s mission is to educate, connect, and inspire the investment community to build a sustainable future. Everything we do contributes directly or indirectly to growing investment professionals’ talent. Over the past year, we have focused resolutely on advancing our stakeholders’ skills, connections, and careers. To enable this, and in parallel, the Society is undergoing significant transformation of its technology infrastructure.
 
CFA UK seeks committed and enthusiastic members to join the established Technology Committee. The committee is a standing committee of the Board and plays a critical strategic and advisory role in ensuring the effective and secure utilisation of technology within CFA UK. 
 
The Vision
The committee’s vision is that CFA UK has a secure, accessible, and fit-for-purpose IT and digital infrastructure for members, examination candidates, and staff, enabling CFA UK to deliver on its mission and strategic objectives. 
 
Role of committee members
As a committee member, you’ll actively contribute to the committee’s success by bringing your expertise, insights, and commitment to help CFA UK meet its strategic objectives. You’ll actively participate in bi-monthly committee meetings, discussions, and decision-making and collaborate with fellow members and the staffed office to develop strategic plans and policies. Committee members will also advocate for responsible technology use within the CFA UK and represent the committee’s interests to the Board and other stakeholders.
 
What you’ll bring:
We’re looking for people who are informed about emerging technologies and best practices, who will contribute ideas for solving CFA UK’s technology challenges and improving efficiency, and who will encourage innovative approaches to technology implementation in a not-for-profit setting.
 
Your skills and knowledge
The committee is looking for people who have expertise in one or more of the following:
- technology architecture 
- technology strategy 
- digital transformation strategy and/or implementation 
- website and/or CRM system expertise 
- cyber security 
- technology programming or development 
- prioritising and sequencing of technology projects 
- data management/protection 
 
Key Committee Activities.
1. Technology Strategy and Planning: The committee collaborates with the staffed office to develop and refine the technology strategy and roadmap. It assesses the alignment of technology initiatives with the CFA UK’s mission and goals. This includes:
- Long-Term Vision: Defining the CFA UK’s technology vision and goals.
- Strategic Roadmap: Creating a roadmap for technology adoption and implementation.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks associated with technology investments.
 
2. Cybersecurity and Data Privacy:
The committee ensures that CFA UK’s technology infrastructure remains secure and compliant. This includes:
 
- Security Policies: Develop and review cybersecurity policies.
- Incident Response: Plan for handling security incidents.
- Privacy Compliance: Monitor compliance with UK GDPR and data protection regulations.
 
3. Technology Investments and Budgeting:
The committee oversees financial aspects related to technology. This includes:
 
- Budget Review: Evaluating and signoff for new technology budgets and expenditures that exceed £25k and are not linked to already budgeted projects or retainers. 
- ROI Assessment: Assessing the return on investment for technology projects.
- Vendor Management: Reviewing contracts with technology vendors.
 
4. Digital Transformation and Innovation:
The committee explores innovative solutions to enhance CFA UK’s impact. This includes:
 
- Emerging Technologies: Stay informed about technological trends.
- Pilot Projects: Recommend and oversee pilot projects.
- User Experience: Advocate for user-friendly digital experiences.
