Purpose

Following on from the global success of the ESG Certificate in Investing and the recently launched Certificate in Climate and Investing, CFA UK is looking to develop a new qualification in Impact and Investing and is seeking practitioner subject matter experts to support the development and launch of the new qualification.

The Impact Investing Institute estimates that the UK impact investment market was worth an estimated £58 billion in 2020. Given the growing number of investors who are recognising their ability to facilitate positive and measurable change while realising a market-rate financial return, there is a clear need to increase knowledge and skills in this area. CFA UK is focused on providing the necessary tools to support the investment industry in managing this process.

The Impact and Investing Panel will support the staffed office in setting the operational framework for CFA UK’s Certificate in Impact and Investing qualification. The Panel will be responsible for all aspects of the provision of the Certificate in Impact and Investing, including the examination, syllabus and the Official Training Manual (OTM).

In between meetings, Panel members will be asked to review the syllabus, learning materials, new questions and new exam forms remotely.

The Impact and Investing Panel will report to the Examinations and Education Committee, via the Impact and Investing Panel Chair.

Key objectives in development and launch phase:

The following objectives have been identified for the Panel for the current membership year 2022/2023:

  • Review and ratify the Impact and Investing syllabus proposed by the Impact and Investing Working Group (convened Dec 21-Apr 22)
  • Review and agree assessment format for new Impact and Investing examination
  • Review new Impact and Investing learning materials
  • Review and agree new questions for inclusion in the Impact and Investing question bank
  • Review and agree Impact and Investing specimen paper
  • Ensure that the questions used in each examination are valid and correct
  • Review suspect and commented questions from each exam session and, where necessary, agree amendments
  • Review results and agree, with guidance from the psychometrician, the pass mark for the pilot exam and ongoing pass mark for live exams
  • Review and ratify proposed changes to the Impact and Investing syllabus to ensure it reflects changes to relevant legislation and practices

Who are we looking for?

The purpose of the new qualification is to enable investment professionals to understand the implications of impact investing and impact in investing through the full investment chain, incorporating relevant frameworks and approaches to impact management, measurement and reporting.

 Applicants should have:
