CFA UK is looking for committed and enthusiastic members to join the newly established Member Experience Steering Committee (MESC).
As a natural communicator and facilitator with high EQ, you’ll contribute to the committee with energy and creativity. You enjoy building relationships and fostering collaboration, and you deal with issues with respect and sensitivity. If you’re keen to contribute to a high-impact steering committee, then this could be the ideal volunteer role for you.
Areas of focus in first 12 months:
1. Building the committee:
a. Set and deliver on 12-month goals
b. Help a likely future chair emerge.
2. Improving the strategy:
Proactive focus on the member and volunteer engagement strategy:
a. Audience development: who are our members and volunteers of the future (CFA, candidates, IMC, ESG, in-house certificate students, fellows, all, others)?
b. Future relevance: What do we need to do today so that we are relevant to our members in 10 years’ time?
c. Success measures: How will we measure success? What do we need to change now to plan for that future?
3. Tactical Focus:
Adaptive and reactive focus on:
a. Engagement – reviewing short term/medium term events and activities to ensure their relevance for members and volunteers
b. Member value proposition – find gaps in the member and volunteer value propositions and make recommendations to the Board for improvement
c. Member satisfaction - Seek members’ and volunteers’ feedback via NPS and other research mechanisms
d. Workstreams - Find recommended workstream(s) for the Committee to pursue in the following 12 months
e. Support the transition and delivery of outstanding activities from the Volunteer Implementation Board Working Group to the Member Experience committee.
Member Experience Steering Committee activities
The Member Experience Steering Committee will work closely with the staffed office and, in particular, be supported and advised by the expertise of the Customer Experience Marketing Manager, the Head of Communities and Engagement, and the Chief Operating Officer (the latter of whom will attend the committee as the staffed office representative). Other staff members will attend as guests as needed. Together they will work to:
• Ensure that every member and volunteer have the opportunity to enjoy and derive value from their CFA UK experience
• Understand member and volunteer trends, needs and preferences, and address any pain points
• Find innovative opportunities to enhance the member and volunteer experience; collaborating with the staff team to prioritise agreed items for implementation within the agreed budget and resources
• Help members connect within the wider membership community.
Your role as a steering committee member
• Be an effective and collaborative contributor who inspires others
• Get to know your other committee members so they feel heard and part of a member community themselves
• Apply creative thinking alongside first class organisational skills to drive forwards implementation of the member and volunteer experience strategy
• Support MESC working groups through dissemination of best practice
• Bringing volunteer leaders together to create a supportive and purposeful network
• Contribute to meetings and conversation to achieve actions and decisions while making sure everyone is involved and addressing issues with sensitivity
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in the steering committee and more widely across CFA UK’s volunteer and member communities
• Work collegiately with the staffed office
• Commit to attend monthly Committee meetings (usually virtual)
• Follow up on actions between meetings.
