Issue 2: High-Value Use Cases Across the Investment Management Value Chain
In this second edition, I focus on a simple idea: if you're starting AI in investment management, don't begin with "predict returns"-begin with compressing cycle time. The fastest, lowest-drama wins usually come from workflow automation: turning messy, manual processes (research notes, risk commentary, client reporting, ops checks) into repeatable steps with clear inputs, controls, and measurable outputs.
I map high-value use cases across the Investment Management value chain (front office, risk, product/client, ops) and share a practical Use-Case Prioritisation Matrix to score ideas by: value (time saved / risk reduced / revenue impact), feasibility (data + tool access + controls), risk level (client/regulatory sensitivity), owner, KPI (baseline vs target), and pilot scope. The aim is to help you choose pilots that create impact without accidentally inventing a new category of governance meeting.
