Morning all,
Have you considered how we are protecting our natural capital, while using AI to enhance our business?

AI caught my attention.
Did you know each time we ask a chat bot a question, a data centre utilises water. A data centre requires 500 ml of water to generate 10-50 medium length responses. Generating images or videos use significantly more.
Data centres are growing. The demand for water to cool these centres is growing. Will science produce innovative data centre solutions that require less water? Where are your company's data centres and has your board discussed whether these centres are in water stressed areas?
There are some trade offs between energy use and water use to cool data centres. the centres that require less water, will require more energy and vice versa. Has your company considered the ratio of water and energy that's needed and measured the impact of each?
I'm keen to hear your thoughts.
